About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Data Specialist or Data Engineer to join a federal government agency. You will work closely with technical and business teams to strengthen data integrity, lineage, performance and reliability throughout the validation, acceptance and deployment of recent Automatic Weather Station technology.

What you'll do

- Develop complex SQL queries, views, stored procedures, user-defined functions and triggers
- Build, maintain and troubleshoot ETL pipelines supporting data migration, storage and synchronisation
- Manage database schema changes and migration scripts using SQL, Python and R
- Rationalise data models, schemas and tables, and define data relationships

What you'll bring





- Demonstrated expertise in PostgreSQL and SQL, including complex queries, views, functions and stored procedures
- Experience working with large or time-series datasets
- Strong data-engineering experience, including the development and maintenance of ETL pipelines
- Programming and analytical capability using Python, R or comparable tools
- Experience ingesting, transforming, validating and analysing complex datasets
- Experience managing data models, schemas, migrations, partitioning and replication
- Familiarity with Git, version control and CI/CD practices
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
