About the Role

Join our team as a Grade 2 Child Life Therapist in a locum position at Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH). This is a fantastic locum opportunity to work within one of Australia’s leading paediatric services, making a difference in the care of children and their families.Your work will involve provision of high-quality, evidence-based child life therapy services to infants, children, adolescents, and their families at Monash Children’s Hospital. You will collaborate closely with your multidisciplinary colleagues across the service to ensure high quality consistent and family centred care.

As a locum Child Life Therapist at MCH, you will provide short term coverage during periods of vacancy,



which may include part-time or full-time blocks of work during the working week of Monday to Friday.By joining the MCHLocumBankyou will be considered for casual Child Life Therapist work shifts across MCH. Once registered, you may be contacted when locum work becomesavailable, depending onserviceneeds. Pleaseoutline your availability in your cover letter.

About Us

Child Life Therapists at MCH play a key role in supporting infants, children, adolescents and their families across a range of clinical areas such as oncology, inpatient and outpatient clinics, diagnostic imaging, and rehabilitation.

Child Life Therapists provide preparation, support, and distraction for medical procedures and healthcare experiences,facilitatetherapeutic and medical play to promote understanding and coping, and create opportunities for play experiences toenhance wellbeing. Child Life Therapists apply knowledge of child development to supportchildrenand their families throughout their healthcare journey.

About You

You are a Child Life Therapist who thrives in a fast-paced acute setting and brings strong clinical reasoning to complex presentations.You’ll be confident managing a varied caseload and contributing to multidisciplinary care. With well-developed communication skills, you’ll engage sensitively with children, adolescents and families, to support coping within the hospital setting.

Experience, Qualification & licence requirements include:





- ClinicalChild Life Therapy experiencein acute health care setting
- Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood or Primary Teaching (4 years full time) or equivalent postgraduate qualification if either undergraduate or postgraduate qualification includes at least 2 years study of child development
- Eligible for full professional membership of the Association of Child Life Therapists Australia
