Douglas Aerospace is looking for an experienced Aircraft Spray Painter to join our growing aircraft refinishing team.

Our preference is for experienced and qualified aircraft painters; however, we also welcome applications from skilled Automotive Spray Painters who have exceptional attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to learn and upskill.

About the Role

Working within our experienced aircraft refinishing team, you'll be involved in all stages of aircraft painting and refurbishment.

Depending on your experience,



you'll also have the opportunity to take ownership of aircraft projects and lead and guide Trade Assistants through the various stages of the job.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Paint stripping and preparation of metallic and composite aircraft surfaces
- Preparation and spray painting of aircraft
- Application of primers, topcoats, specialist coatings, and corrosion prevention systems
- Detailed masking and preparation
- Stencilling and application of tapes and decals
- Application of aircraft liveries and paint schemes
- Reading and interpreting aircraft paint schemes and technical information
- Maintaining spray-painting equipment
- Identifying and managing required paint materials and equipment
- Working within aviation quality, safety, and technical requirements
- Leading and guiding Trade Assistants throughout aircraft projects
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment

Aircraft refinishing is a deadline-driven environment. Quality and safety are never compromised, but there will be times when the team needs to pull together, work hard, and push through busy periods to deliver an aircraft on schedule.

We're looking for someone who understands that commitment — someone who takes ownership of their work, supports the people around them, and takes pride in getting an aircraft across the finish line as a team.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

- Takes genuine pride in producing exceptional quality work
- Has excellent attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship
- Is reliable, motivated, and leads by example
- Enjoys mentoring, guiding, and supporting Trade Assistants
- Works well within a team environment
- Takes ownership of seeing projects through to completion
- Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic




- Is committed to workplace safety and actively contributes to the continuous improvement of safety practices
- Understands the importance of following procedures and maintaining high quality and safety standards
- Is willing to step up and support the team when project deadlines require it
- Wants to continue learning, developing, and improving their skills

You will ideally have:

- A trade qualification in Aircraft Painting, Automotive Refinishing, or a similar spray-painting trade
- Previous aircraft painting experience — highly regarded
- Minimum two years' professional spray-painting experience
- Current Driver Licence
- Ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
- Flexibility to work different shift patterns when operational requirements require it
