- Salary: $86,601 - $124,725 per annum + super (commensurate with experience) (Pro-Rati)

Marymount Primary is a co-educational Catholic primary school which caters for over 1000 students and is located on the southern end of the Gold Coast.



We are a predominantly 6-stream school which has an inclusive education policy and is situated on the same campus as Marymount College.

About the opportunity

We are seeking an inspiring and culturally responsive Auslan Teacher to join our school community. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver the Australian Curriculum: Auslan and foster students' understanding of both the language and the rich culture, identity and perspectives of Australia's Deaf community.

We recognise Auslan as the language of the Australian Deaf community and value the cultural knowledge and perspectives that accompany its use. We welcome applications from Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing applicants who have the skills,



qualifications and cultural capability to teach Auslan in an authentic and respectful manner.

In this position you will be responsible for:

- Creating a nurturing and ordered learning environment that is learner-centred, supportive, cooperative, and aligned with relevant curriculum policies, documents and practices
- Collaboratively developing and implementing quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy; evaluating their effectiveness; assessing and reporting student progress and learning outcomes; and reporting these to students, parents and the community
- Working collaboratively with the leadership team, teachers and other staff members in contributing to the professional life of the school and fostering a positive school culture
- Proactively engaging with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes
- Establishing positive relationships in the pastoral care of students and supporting their spiritual and moral development
- Ensure that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching.

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

- Creating a supportive, learner-focused classroom aligned with the Australian Curriculum
- Expertise in designing and delivering effective Auslan curriculum programs in line with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
- Demonstrate fluency in Auslan and have a sound understanding of the relationship between Auslan, Deaf culture, identity and community.
- Cultural competence and a commitment to teaching Auslan in an authentic and respectful manner.
