Monaco Solicitors is seeking an experienced SEO content specialist and writer to take ownership of our online content program.
This role extends beyond writing. You will manage the content process from initial research and opportunity analysis through to drafting, legal review, publication and performance reporting.
You will be expected to independently identify what content should be created or improved, rather than relying on the firm to provide topics or detailed briefs. Determining what to write, why it should be written and how it can compete with existing search results is a central part of the role.
You will develop accurate, accessible content across personal injury, medical negligence, workers compensation, superannuation and TPD claims, and estate disputes. You will work closely with our solicitors and marketing team while having the confidence and experience to progress work independently.

About the role
Key responsibilities
- Complete an initial audit of our existing website content, identifying:
- Pages containing errors, omissions or outdated information
- Underperforming pages with limited search potential
- Pages with strong search demand that require substantial rewriting
- Pages close to ranking that may benefit from targeted optimisation
- Independently identify and prioritise worthwhile content opportunities rather than relying on topics being assigned
- Use keyword research, search intent, search volume, SERP analysis and competitive analysis to determine what content should be created or improved
- Assess whether a search query requires a new page, an update to an existing page or no further content
- Develop and manage a practical content plan across our key practice areas
- Draft and update practice area pages, articles, guides, FAQs and PPC landing pages
- Research legal topics and verify information using authoritative sources, including legislation, regulator guidance, determinations and relevant fund documents
- Translate complex legal concepts into clear, empathetic and accessible language for people facing difficult circumstances
- Coordinate feedback and legal approval from the appropriate solicitor before publication
- Publish and maintain content within the website content management system
- Develop and maintain content standards, style guidance and quality controls
- Monitor content performance and provide:
- Concise monthly reporting on traffic, rankings and enquiries
- More detailed quarterly reporting on performance, opportunities and recommended next steps
- Review published content after approximately 90 days and recommend whether it should be retained, updated, expanded or redirected
- Use AI tools appropriately to support research and drafting while applying independent judgment and thorough human verification
About you
- Established qualified experience in content writing, SEO content or digital publishing
- Strong long-form online writing and editing skills
- Practical SEO experience, including keyword research, search intent analysis, SERP analysis, topic selection and assessing ranking difficulty
- Demonstrated experience producing content that ranks for commercially relevant search terms
- The ability to independently determine what should be written and take ownership of the content program without requiring continuous direction
- The ability to interpret search data and explain why a content opportunity should or should not be pursued
- Excellent research skills and a careful approach to factual accuracy and source verification
- The ability to take ownership of projects and work independently from planning through to publication and reporting
- Strong organisational skills, sound judgment and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A collaborative approach to feedback and the confidence to explain recommendations respectfully
- A willingness to complete a short paid content brief during the final stage of the recruitment process
Desirable
- Experience producing legal, financial, insurance,
healthcare or other research-intensive content
- Experience writing content in competitive search categories
- Experience working with solicitors or within structured review and approval processes
- Familiarity with legislation, regulatory material or legal research
- Experience using platforms and tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Ahrefs, Semrush or similar
- Experience using a website content management system
- A qualification in law, journalism, communications, marketing or a related discipline
- Familiarity with Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT or similar tools, supported by careful human review
Legal experience is helpful but is not essential. A strong SEO and professional writing background, together with the ability to research carefully and learn complex subject matter, is more important.
What success looks like
