Installation Theatrical Engineering is an Australian leader in the design, manufacture, installation and servicing of stage machinery and theatre equipment.

Based in Port Melbourne, our team delivers specialist projects for theatres, schools, performing arts centres and entertainment venues throughout Australia.

We are looking for a practical and reliable Metal Fabricator and Installer to join our workshop and installation team.

About the Role

This is a hands-on and varied position combining workshop fabrication with onsite installation work.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Fabricating steel and aluminium components from drawings

- MIG and TIG welding

- Cutting, drilling, grinding, fitting and general metalwork

- Assembling stage machinery and theatre equipment

- Installing curtain tracks, lighting bars, hoists, winches and structural components

- Assisting with servicing, repairs and equipment inspections

- Working from elevated work platforms, ladders and scaffolding

- Travelling to metropolitan, regional and interstate projects when required

- Completing work safely and maintaining a clean and organised work area

About You

We are looking for someone who:

- Has experience in metal fabrication, welding, mechanical fitting or a similar trade

- Can confidently use workshop machinery and hand tools





- Can read and work from fabrication and installation drawings

- Takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work

- Is dependable, punctual and works well as part of a team

- Is comfortable working at heights and performing physically active work

- Can communicate professionally with colleagues, clients and other trades

- Is willing to undertake both workshop and onsite installation work

- Holds a current Australian driver's licence

A trade qualification in metal fabrication, boiler making, mechanical fitting or a related field is preferred.

EWP, forklift, working-at-heights, construction-induction and welding qualifications will be highly regarded. Applicants must hold, or be willing to obtain, a Working with Children Check.

Our standard workshop hours are:

- Monday to Thursday: 7:00am-3:30pm

- Friday: 7:00am-3:00pm

- Fortnightly rostered day off

Remuneration will be based on qualifications and relevant experience.
