Gas Fitter - Residential Gas Repairs & Rectification

You’ll be responsible for completing gas appliance repairs and rectification works across our residential portfolio, carrying out testing and making safe where required, and providing clear recommendations and reports.

Many jobs will already have been diagnosed through our own gas safety checks, so you’ll often arrive knowing the fault and what’s been approved. Others you’ll assess on site. You’ll also be the face of the business when dealing with tenants, homeowners and agents, so great communication and customer service are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out repairs and rectification on Type A gas appliances across Melbourne

Rectify faults identified in gas safety checks, including CO spillage, negative pressure and flue defects

Repair and replace gas heaters, cooktops, ovens and hot water units

Locate and repair leaks on consumer piping

Repair and replace flues and flue terminals

Disconnect and make safe any appliance that cannot be repaired, and escalated as required

Issue compliance certificates and gas servicing records





Complete accurate job reports and safety documentation on site

Ensure all work complies with AS 4575, AS/NZS 5601.1 and the Gas Safety (Gas Installation) Regulations 2018

Deliver professional customer service on every visit

Manage daily jobs independently and maintain organised, timely completion

Represent the business professionally when dealing with customers and clients

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

Current BPC (formerly VBA) registration or licence including the gasfitting class

Gas Servicing Type A endorsement shown on your Plumbers Identity Card

Full/current driver's licence

Reliable vehicle

Ability to work autonomously

Strong communication and customer service skills

Solid understanding of AS 4575 servicing requirements and AS/NZS 5601.1 gas installations

Carbon monoxide testing and negative pressure testing experience

Previous compliance or residential inspection experience is desirable, but not essential
