We are seeking an experienced Retail Manager to manage the dealership’s retail operations. This is a full-time, permanent position comprising 38 hours per week, with a salary of $135,000–$145,000 per year plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience. Reporting to the Manager, the successful applicant will oversee vehicle inventory, sales performance, pricing, advertising, customer service and the supervision of the sales team.

Experience in automotive retailing, used-vehicle sales, automotive products or dealership operations will be highly regarded. Mandarin language skills will also be highly regarded due to the dealership’s Chinese-speaking customer base and WeChat sales channel.

Key responsibilities

- Manage the dealership's day-to-day retail operations.
- Set sales targets and monitor individual and team performance.
- Supervise, train and support sales staff and coordinate their daily priorities.
- Determine the appropriate vehicle mix and stock levels based on customer demand, sales trends and inventory turnover.
- Coordinate the sourcing and purchasing of used vehicles and negotiate with suppliers and industry contacts.
- Establish and review vehicle pricing, sales strategies and promotional offers.
- Oversee the preparation, presentation and advertising of vehicles.
- Manage enquiries and sales generated through the dealership, WeChat, online platforms and other digital channels.
- Monitor vehicle purchases, sales revenue,



operating costs and dealership profitability.
- Maintain accurate inventory, sales and financial transaction records.

About you

- An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, Diploma or higher qualification; alternatively, at least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
- Demonstrated experience managing the operations of a retail business, including sales, inventory, purchasing, pricing, staff supervision and customer service.
- Experience setting sales targets, monitoring results and preparing budgets, forecasts or performance reports.
- The ability to supervise, train and evaluate sales or customer-service staff.
- Experience managing supplier relationships, purchasing arrangements and stock availability.
- Sound commercial judgement and an understanding of revenue, costs and retail profitability.
- Strong leadership, negotiation and organisational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy, customer-facing setting.
- A valid driver's licence and the ability to drive vehicles as required in the course of dealership operations.
