About the role

The core function of the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager is to lead the delivery of our client's marketing and communications program. This means being accountable for the successful implementation of the agreed marketing and communications strategy, as well as the satisfaction of the client and the Mahlab team supporting the account.

You’ll have a deep understanding of communications best practice and an ever-evolving knowledge of the changing communications landscape. You will develop a solid understanding of the food and grocery sector in which the client operates and act as a trusted advisor, helping the organisation understand how strategic marketing and communications can support its broader objectives.

You’ll also work closely with the client’s executive team to develop thought leadership content and advise on topics and discussions for them to be involved in.

A day in the life

- Lead the day-to-day relationship with the client.
- Accountable for the successful implementation of the marketing and communications strategy, and for client satisfaction.
- Ability to spot opportunities to add value and strengthen the partnership over time.
- Act as the primary point of contact and strategic advisor to the client.
- Manage and mentor the dedicated client account team, as well as Mahlab Content Creators, Media Relations Specialists and a Marketing and Communications Coordinator.
- Coordinate with multiple teams and departments, both within Mahlab and at AFGC.
- Organise internal and external resources to meet project and client requirements.
- Write thought leadership content for client’s executive team

The ideal person for this role

- 6-8 years' experience in B2B communications or integrated marketing roles ideally within an agency environment.
- A team player, who is capable of leading from the front.




- Demonstrated success delivering pipeline growth programs.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and project management capabilities.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive, organised and results-driven approach.
- Creative, adaptable and highly detail oriented.
- Hungry for growth, eager to develop new skills and deepen sector expertise.
