Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic - Truck Hydraulics & Fit-Out

Gorski Engineering is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic, Truck & Trailer Tipper Manufacturer to join our team on a full-time basis at our facility in Somerton VIC 3062. About the role

Gorski Engineering is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic, Truck & Trailer Tipper Manufacturer to join our team on a full-time basis at our facility in Somerton VIC 3062. This is a hands-on technical position where you will play a crucial role in the maintenance, repair, and assembly of diesel-powered trucks and trailer tippers. Your expertise will be essential to ensuring our vehicles meet the highest standards of performance, safety, and reliability before they reach our customers. T

The Role

- Fit and connect hydraulic systems for tipping bodies, including PTOs, pumps, tanks, hoses, valves and associated components.
- Install and connect pneumatic/air systems associated with tipping body and truck operation.
- Carry out 12/24V electrical fit-out, including switches, solenoids, warning systems, lighting, cameras and other accessories.
- Understand and work with existing truck chassis, electrical and air systems when completing body installations.
- Diagnose and rectify hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults during fit-out and commissioning.
- Test and commission completed truck installations prior to delivery.
- Work closely with our engineering, production and fitting teams to resolve technical issues.




- Assist with developing better installation methods and processes.
- Provide technical guidance and support to our fitters, helping build the capability of the wider team.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.

What We're Looking For

- Is a qualified Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or has equivalent heavy vehicle experience.
- Has strong practical knowledge of trucks and heavy vehicle systems.
- Has experience with hydraulics and pneumatic/air systems.
- Is confident with automotive electrical systems and fault finding.
- Ideally has experience with PTO and hydraulic installations on trucks.
- Can read hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical diagrams.
- Has strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Is comfortable working in a manufacturing and truck fit-out environment, rather than a traditional mechanical workshop.
- Can work independently and take ownership of jobs.
- Is willing and capable of guiding and supporting other fitters.
- Takes pride in producing neat, reliable and high-quality work.

This position would suit an experienced heavy vehicle mechanic who enjoys working on trucks but is looking for something different from day-to-day engine servicing and repairs.

You'll be working on truck fit-outs, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems, helping turn a truck chassis into a completed working tipper.

There is also an opportunity for the right person to take on greater technical responsibility and leadership within our fitting team as the role develops.
