ACCHO First 2000 Days teams are where early childhood health becomes life-changing—because the first years are when we can catch developmental delays early, support confident parenting, and help families build robust foundations from birth to age five.

And yes—we take immunisations seriously.

But we also take cultural respect seriously.

So basically you’ll be doing both: clinical excellence + culturally safe care (with a sense of humour that doesn’t compromise professionalism).

? What You’ll Do

You’ll provide specialised primary health services to Aboriginal infants, children, and families, including:

- ✅ Comprehensive child health checks + growth assessments (0–5 years)
- ✅ Developmental screening using ASQ-TRAK / ASQ-3
- ✅ Immunisations as an Authorised Nurse Immuniser
- ✅ Practical clinical education on:
- infant feeding (breastfeeding, formula, solids),
- sleep/settling,
- growth and wellbeing

- ✅ Early referrals to allied health and paediatrics when screening indicates needs
- ✅ Culturally safe home visits & outreach clinics with Aboriginal Health Workers
- ✅ School readiness checks (vision/hearing) and early childhood hygiene support
- ✅ Accurate documentation in Communicare + participation in clinical governance / CQI

Who You Are

Essential:

- Current unrestricted AHPRA RN registration
- Clinical experience equivalent to RN Year 8
- Authorised Nurse Immuniser qualification in NSW (or near completion)
- Knowledge of early development milestones + ASQ tools
- Demonstrated ability to deliver culturally safe care
- Strong communication + electronic recording skills (Communicare)
- Current driver’s licence + willingness to travel
- WWCC and National Police Clearance

Desirable:

- Postgraduate qualification in Child & Family Health Nursing
- Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Experience working in an ACCHO
