Il Forno is looking for warm, reliable and enthusiastic people to join our Front of House team in Hampton, across waitstaff, hosting and bar positions.

An established neighbourhood restaurant, Il Forno is a tribute to Italian culture and history, bringing together seasonal Australian and Italian produce, thoughtful cooking and warm, genuine hospitality.

Our style of service is relaxed and personable, but with attention to detail. We're looking for people who enjoy looking after guests, take pride in good service and want to become part of a close-knit restaurant team.

The Role

Depending on your experience and strengths, you'll work across waiting, hosting or bar, with opportunities to develop your skills across different areas of the restaurant.

For our waitstaff, responsibilities include:

- Managing your own section and providing attentive, personable table service

- Taking food and beverage orders accurately and confidently

- Running food and assisting the wider team throughout service

- Learning our menu and being able to confidently explain dishes and ingredients

- Developing your wine knowledge and assisting guests with recommendations

- Reading tables and adapting your style of service to different guests

- Processing bills and payments

- Resetting and maintaining tables and your section throughout service

Our hosts are often the first and last point of contact for our guests, welcoming and seating diners, managing the flow of the restaurant and assisting the wider FOH team throughout service.

Our bar staff are responsible for beverage service across the restaurant, including wine, bottled beer, spirits and a small cocktail list.

These roles aren't necessarily fixed. Where suitable, we encourage our team to develop experience across different areas of the restaurant.

About You

We're looking for people who are:





- Experienced in restaurant or hospitality service

- Warm, confident and genuinely comfortable interacting with guests

- Reliable, punctual and organised

- Attentive to detail without making service feel overly formal

- Able to work efficiently and remain composed during busy services

- Proactive and willing to help the wider team

- Interested in learning about Italian food, wine and hospitality

- Able to read a table and understand when guests want attention – and when they don't

- Neat and well-presented

- Interested in becoming a consistent and valued member of our team

Existing Italian food and wine knowledge is beneficial but not essential. We'll help you develop a strong understanding of our menu, ingredients and wine offering.

A current Victorian RSA is required.

Friday and Saturday evening availability is expected, with Sunday availability also highly regarded.
