Senior Legal Support / Family Law Paralegal

You'll work directly alongside the Principal, running her files and her intake so that her time goes where it should: on the legal work only she can do. This role involves managing family law files end to end across divorce, parenting, property settlements, mediation and litigation.

Key responsibilities

Managing family law files end to end and keeping matters progressing — divorce, parenting, property settlements, mediation and litigation

First point of contact for current enquiries: screening against the practice's criteria, running the intake questionnaire, and preparing the file before it reaches a lawyer

Drafting correspondence, court documents, financial statements, disclosure material and consent orders

Managing court dates, filing deadlines and procedural timelines

Coordinating client appointments, conferences, mediations and counsel briefings

Preparing draft bills as work is completed, and tracking work against fixed-fee scopes

Keeping clients informed so matters never stall waiting on a lawyer

Escalating urgent or sensitive matters with good judgement

About you

Demonstrated family law experience as a paralegal, law clerk or senior legal support professional (3+ years preferred)

Working knowledge of the Family Law Act and FCFCOA procedure

Confidence drafting without a lawyer looking over your shoulder





Genuine file and diary discipline — you're the one who remembers the deadline

Excellent written and verbal communication, and real warmth with clients going through the hardest year of their life

Strong judgement, discretion and self-direction — remote work only functions when it's built on all three

Smokeball experience highly regarded (or similar practice management software)

Wills and estates or estate litigation exposure is a bonus, though not essential

Employment under the Legal Services Award 2020

Three weeks remote per month, with travel and accommodation covered for the Mildura week

Relocation assistance up to $5,000 for candidates choosing to move

A clear path to Senior Paralegal, including mentoring other support staff
