At Inner Space Psychological Services, much of our work is with police, paramedics, firefighters, military personnel and their families. These are clients who are often high-functioning, psychologically curious, and deeply appreciative of care that is direct, practical, and genuine. Alongside this, we support members of the broader community with equal commitment.

Our clients appreciate our down-to-earth approach and the welcoming experience created by our team. We are a small, senior, and close-knit practice with the appreciation of keeping things simple.

We're expanding our team of clinicians and welcome applications from Psychologists (general or clinically endorsed), Mental Health Social Workers, and appropriately qualified/accredited Counsellors (ACA/PACFA-registered).

What the Role Looks Like

- Working one-on-one with adults is the core of the work. There is also the opportunity to work with young people if desired.
- Variety of presentations and referral types, based on skill and particular areas of interest
- Some assessment work is possible if you have the skills and interest in this area, particularly for neurodivergence in military and first responder populations.
- 3–5 days per week subcontractor position (genuinely flexible — we'll work around the right person).
- Located primarily onsite at our Leumeah rooms as our clients generally prefer to see us in-person. However, some work-from-home hours can be negotiated.
- A steady, well-managed caseload from day one — referrals are consistent and well-matched
- Full onsite admin support: bookings, billing, and practice management are handled so you can focus on clinical work
- Collaborative work alongside a small group of experienced clinicians who are equally committed to this client group

You'll Thrive Here If You Are…

- A fully registered psychologist (general, clinical, or equivalent quals)



with some experience working with first responders, emergency services, and/or military clients or have knowledge of the uniqueness of these populations.
- Grounded and pragmatic — you understand the culture, you don't over-pathologise, and you know how to build trust with clients who are often reluctant help-seekers
- Skilled in trauma-focused therapies — experience with EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, and/or ACT is highly regarded
- Self-sufficient, easygoing, and straightforward — you manage your caseload well independently but genuinely value being part of a collegial, experienced team
- Values-aligned — you're here because this work matters to you, not as a stopgap

Qualifications

- AHPRA registered, without restriction (or equivalant)
- SIRA registered or willing to obtain it
- Training in EMDR and other trauma therapies is highly regarded for this work
