The Role

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality nursing care to patients of the Gynaecology Outpatient Department consistent with SESHLD policies, procedures and standards.
The Registered Nurse is responsible to the Nursing Unit Manager with a professional reporting line to the Clinical Co-Director Gynaecology Services.
The Registered
Nurse will liaise and communicate with the Clinical Nurse Consultant – Gynaecology Specialty Services, Gynaecology Outpatient Administration Officers, nursing and allied health staff and medical staff.
The Gynaecology Outpatient Department is a dedicated area comprising fourteen consulting and procedure rooms and is located on level 2 within the Royal Hospital for Women.
The Gynaecology Outpatient Department provides a comprehensive range of speciality ambulatory services including Benign Gynaecology, Endogynaecology, Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology, Menopause, Chronic Pelvic Pain, Contraception,
Vulval Health , Urogynaecology, Surgical Preadmission, and procedure clinics including Hysteroscopy, insertion and removal of intra-uterine devices, Urodynamics and Colposcopy.
Services are provided on a referral basis for adult, adolescent and paediatric patients at a tertiary and quaternary level from the local community, and within NSW. Services are also provided to patients within the Randwick Hospital Campus, including from Prince of Wales and Sydney Children’s Hospital.
The Registered Nurse is responsible to the Nursing Unit Manager with a professional reporting line to the Clinical Co-Director Gynaecology Services.

Selection Criteria
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others
- Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations
- Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse in applying these principles
- Clinical experience in Gynaecological Nursing,
acute Women’s Health and/or clinic/outpatient setting is desirable but not essential with a demonstrated commitment to professional development.
