As our business continues to grow, we are seeking a Market Research Consultant to join our team.

Job Opportunity: Market Research Consultant - Major Events

The Market Research Consultant will contribute to the delivery of event evaluation and market research projects across IER's tourism, events, sport, arts and cultural portfolio. This position combines project coordination, research, client management and reporting to ensure our clients receive clear, practical insights that support decision-making.

Working closely with IER's experienced team of consultants and data analysts, you will manage clearly scoped projects from initial planning and data collection through to reporting, while developing trusted day-to-day relationships with clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone in the early stages of their consulting or research career who enjoys combining analytical thinking with client engagement and wants to build experience across Australia's events and visitor economy sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage the delivery of event evaluation and market research projects, with a focus on mid-sized events and support senior consultants with large scale events.

- Manage day-to-day client relationships and act as the primary point of contact for allocated projects, with support from senior team members where required.

- Prepare high-quality reports,



infographics and presentations that translate research findings and data into clear, practical insights.

- Work collaboratively with IER's senior consultants, data analysts and research team to deliver high-quality project outcomes.

- Coordinate project timelines, budgets, resources and quality assurance processes across multiple assignments.

- Contribute to research methodology design, coordinate survey implementation and interpret quantitative and qualitative findings.

- Communicate research findings to clients through clear reports, presentations and project meetings.

- Support the development of strong client partnerships and identify opportunities for follow-on work.

- Assist with the preparation of proposals, RFQs and tenders for new consulting opportunities.

- Contribute to the ongoing development of IER's research methodologies, reporting capability and consulting services.

- Contribute positively to a collaborative, supportive and high-performing team environment.

Requirements:

You are an emerging consultant or researcher who enjoys working with clients, solving problems and delivering meaningful insights. You are organised, comfortable coordinating multiple projects and keen to develop your consulting capability in a collaborative environment.

You will ideally have:

- One to three years of experience in consulting, market research, tourism, events, sport, arts and culture, or a related field.

- Sound project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and meet deadlines.

- Strong written communication skills and experience contributing to clear, high-quality reports and presentations.

- Confident interpersonal and client relationship management skills.

- Strong analytical capability and confidence interpreting data to identify clear, practical insights.





- Experience communicating research findings or project updates to clients and internal stakeholders.

- A proactive, commercial mindset and an interest in developing long-term client relationships.

- High attention to detail and robust organisational skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

- Experience using survey or data analysis platforms such as Qualtrics and Power BI would be advantageous.

Location:

This role can be based in Melbourne, Victoria or Brisbane Queensland.
