The Royal Sydney Golf Club is one of Australia's most prestigious social and sporting institutions. As a private members' club, it has proudly hosted world-class events, including the Australian Open on 15 occasions. Following a landmark course redevelopment the Club now showcases a fresh, innovative design that honours its original native heathland character.
We have two exciting opportunities for enthusiastic and driven individuals to join our Golf Operations team as PGA Associates. Working alongside our team of Operational and PGA Professionals, the successful applicants will undertake the PGA of Australia's 3-year Associate Program, commencing in ****, while gaining hands-on experience across golf operations, coaching support, retail and member service. Both full-time and part-time arrangements will be considered for the right candidates. While the program commences in ****, the Club is open to hiring the right person prior to ****.
Key tasks
Assist the PGA Professional team and Golf Operations staff with the day-to-day running of the golf shop, practice facilities and golf course operations;
Support the delivery of Men's and Women's golf events, including entries, draws, handicaps and results, ensuring events run smoothly and to a high standard;
Provide friendly, skilled service to members and their guests at all times;
Assist with coaching programs, clinics and junior golf initiatives under the guidance of the Club's PGA Professionals;
Support retail operations in the golf shop, including merchandising, stock management and point-of-sale;
Complete the coursework, workbooks and practical requirements of the PGA of Australia's 3-year Associate Program;
Assist with the setup and administration of member competitions and club events;
Undertake general golf operations and administration duties as required by the PGA Professional team.
What you will bring
Strong knowledge of the etiquette, rules and regulations of golf, with a genuine passion for the game.
Eligible to enrol in, or currently enrolled in, the PGA of Australia's Associate/Traineeship Program.
A competitive playing handicap, or demonstrated golfing ability, is highly regarded.
A member-focused outlook with a demonstrated passion for excellence in member service.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines and remain composed under pressure
Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional attitude
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with key staff and members
