Peer Team Leader
to lead our peer and psychosocial workforce across our hubs throughout the Murrumbidgee region
This is a unique leadership opportunity that brings together

. You will support a team to deliver high-quality, person-centred and recovery-oriented care while continuing to work directly alongside participants as an equal.
About Better. Together.
Better. Together. is a free mental health service for people aged 18 and over across the Murrumbidgee region.
Our teams work alongside general practices to provide support that looks at the whole person, their mental health, physical health, relationships, community connections, goals and aspirations.
Peer work is an key part of this approach. We believe people bring valuable knowledge from their own experiences of mental distress, service use, recovery, personal growth and learning. When shared intentionally and purposefully, lived experience can create authentic connection, challenge assumptions and help people feel understood.
About The Role
As
Peer Team Leader
, you will provide visible, values-driven leadership to the peer and psychosocial workforce across the region.
Coordinate day-to-day operations,
support workflows and workforce planning and provide practical practice support to Peer Workers and Health Linkers.
A key part of the role is creating a team culture where people feel
supported, included, empowered and connected to their purpose
. You will instil Wellways peer work values and Intentional Peer Support (IPS) principles, while working closely with the Clinical Team Leader and Service & GP Partnerships Manager to ensure clinical, peer and psychosocial teams work together effectively.
You will also remain connected to participants through direct peer work, intentionally drawing on your own lived experience to build
authentic, mutual relationships
and support self-determination and recovery.
Please Note: this position can be based out of any of our offices – Wagga Wagga, Deniliquin, Griffith and Young.
You will have
Relevant experience in peer work, psychosocial support or a related field
Personal lived experience of mental distress and/or service use that you can intentionally and appropriately draw upon in peer practice
Experience supporting, coordinating or leading a team
The ability to create an inclusive, supportive and accountable team culture
You will need
Certificate IV in Mental Health, Mental Health Peer Work, or Community Services, or equivalent lived experience workforce knowledge, skills and practical experience
Strong understanding of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and person-led practice
Demonstrated experience leading frontline teams
Right to work in Australia
100 points of ID
Valid Driver Licence and willingness to travel
Satisfactory National Police Record Check
International Police Check (if appliable)
Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check
NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate – Quality Safety and You
