Painter Brighton-Le-Sands, NSW ****, Full Time, Trades Services Vacancy Listing Dates 28/08/2026 to 25/09/2026 Please Quote Reference Number ***** Experienced Painter required Full time position Join the Smooth Painting Services team About the Position Smooth Painting Services is seeking an experienced and reliable Painter to join our team on a full-time basis.
The successful applicant will undertake residential and commercial painting and decorating work, including preparing surfaces, selecting and preparing coatings, applying paint and other finishes, and ensuring completed work meets the required quality and client specifications.
This is a hands-on trade position suited to an experienced painter who can work independently, maintain high standards of workmanship and safely complete painting projects from preparation through to completion.
Key Responsibilities : Inspect and assess surfaces before commencing painting work.
Prepare walls, ceilings, doors, trims and other surfaces by removing existing paint or finishes where required.
Fill holes, cracks, joints and imperfections and sand surfaces to achieve a smooth finish.
Clean, prepare, seal and prime surfaces as required for the particular coating or finish.
Protect floors, furniture, fixtures, windows and other surrounding areas using drop sheets, masking materials and other appropriate protective measures.
Select appropriate paints, primers, stains, varnishes and other coatings according to the surface and required finish.
Measure and mix paints, tints and other materials to achieve the required colour, consistency and finish.
Apply paints, primers, stains, varnishes and other coatings using brushes, rollers, spray equipment and other appropriate application methods.
Apply multiple coats and allow appropriate drying times between applications.
Sand and smooth surfaces between coats where required to achieve an even and professional finish.
Apply decorative finishes and wallpaper where required by the project.
Inspect completed work and rectify imperfections, uneven coverage, runs, marks or other defects.
Follow project specifications, work instructions and client requirements.
Maintain painting tools, brushes, rollers, spray equipment and other equipment in good working condition.
Clean equipment and work areas at the completion of each job.
Safely handle and store paints, solvents, coatings and other materials.
Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including appropriate use of PPE and safe work practices.
Work safely when using ladders,
elevated work platforms or other access equipment where required.
Communicate professionally with supervisors, colleagues, clients and other trades working on site.
Essential Skills The successful applicant must demonstrate the following skills and competencies: Strong practical knowledge of residential and/or commercial painting techniques.
Ability to prepare a wide range of internal and external surfaces for painting.
Competence in scraping, sanding, filling, patching, smoothing, sealing and priming surfaces.
Ability to select and prepare appropriate paints, primers, sealers, stains, varnishes and other coatings.
Competence in mixing and tinting paints to achieve required colours, consistency and finish.
Proficiency in applying coatings using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
Ability to achieve consistent, high-quality finishes across different surfaces and materials.
Ability to identify surface imperfections and undertake appropriate preparation and rectification work.
Ability to follow job specifications, work instructions, product requirements and client expectations.
Good understanding of safe handling, storage and use of paints, solvents and other painting materials.
Ability to safely use and maintain painting tools, spray equipment, ladders and other relevant equipment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
Good communication, organisation and time-management skills.
Commitment to workplace health and safety requirements and appropriate use of PPE.
Experience Required : A minimum of three (3) years of full-time, relevant work experience as a Painter is required.
Applicants must be able to provide verifiable evidence of at least three years of full-time employment in painting and decorating work.
The required experience should have been gained in residential, commercial or comparable painting and decorating environments, involving duties and responsibilities substantially similar to those described for this position.
Experience must demonstrate practical competency in surface preparation, paint and coating application,
colour mixing, finishing, equipment use, quality control and general painting-related duties.
Applicants may be required to provide appropriate supporting evidence of their previous employment and experience, such as employment references, statements of service, employment contracts, payslips, tax records or other reliable employment documentation.
Experience gained in workplaces with comparable painting activities, work practices, equipment and responsibilities will be considered, provided the applicant can demonstrate the required level of practical competency and relevant full-time experience.
Qualifications A relevant painting and decorating trade qualification, such as Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (CPC*****) or an equivalent qualification, is desirable.
Relevant demonstrated trade experience will also be considered in accordance with the requirements applicable to the position.

Equipment and Work Environment The position involves the use of standard qualified painting equipment, including brushes, rollers, spray equipment, sanding equipment, ladders, drop sheets, masking materials, preparation tools and other painting and decorating equipment.
Work will generally be undertaken at residential and commercial properties and may involve indoor and outdoor painting, surface preparation, working at heights and exposure to varying site conditions.
