About the Role
n
We're seeking an Edge Platform Engineer to join our Edge Platform team.
n
As an Edge Platform Engineer, you will build and evolve the distributed edge platform that powers real-time traffic management across road networks, enabling the secure connection of thousands of devices, sensors and control systems. Working within an empowered product team, you'll deliver scalable, high-performance solutions that help our customers improve safety, mobility and community outcomes, while contributing to the evolution of modern engineering practices and technologies.

What you'll do

Reporting to the Edge Platform Engineering Lead, you'll contribute to the success of Transmax's Delivery group by:
n

Engineer and maintain the edge platform that connects and manages thousands of intelligent transport devices.
n
Build secure,



scalable and high-performance solutions using modern DevOps and software engineering practices.
n
Optimise platform reliability, performance and resilience across a distributed fleet of edge devices.
n
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-focused outcomes and continuously improve technology and processes.
n
Support the deployment, operation and ongoing evolution of edge solutions throughout their lifecycle.
n

What you'll bring
n
We're looking for a combination of strong software engineering expertise, deep Linux and DevOps experience, and a collaborative, problem-solving mindset, with a passion for building reliable, high-performance solutions in complex distributed and edge computing environments. You'll also bring:
n
n
A collaborative, team-first approach with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for solving complex problems.
n
Experience delivering and supporting software in DevOps/SRE environments, with a focus on automation, reliability and continuous improvement.
n
Robust Linux and open-source expertise, including platform customisation, configuration management and system optimisation.
n




Proficiency in modern software engineering practices using technologies such as C++, Rust, Python, CI/CD, automated testing and containerisation.
n
Experience integrating systems through networking protocols, APIs and messaging technologies in distributed or edge environments.
n
A tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent industry experience.
n
Experience working with resource-constrained or edge computing environments.
n
Exposure to AWS and the ability to work across both Linux and Windows platforms.
n
