VE Group AU is a leading Queensland-based civil construction, transport and maintenance contractor. We are seeking experienced Resident Fitters / Mobile Plant Mechanics to support our Ipswich (North Tivoli) operations, providing hands-on maintenance and breakdown support across our civil plant and equipment fleet.
These roles are site-based / region-based positions, ideal for fitters who enjoy autonomy, responsibility and working directly with operational crews to keep equipment running.

About the Role
As a Resident Fitter / Mobile Plant Mechanic, you will:
• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing on mobile plant
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical faults
• Respond to breakdowns and urgent repairs to minimise downtime




• Work independently across site and depot environments
• Identify defects and emerging maintenance issues early
• Complete work orders, inspections and maintenance records accurately
• Follow VE Group safety systems, including task and machine risk assessments
• Liaise closely with supervisors and operators to provide practical technical support
This is a hands-on field role — not a workshop-only position.
What We're Looking For
You will ideally have:
• Australian-recognised Plant and Heavy Diesel Mechanic trade qualification
• Strong experience working on transport, civil and earthmoving equipment
• Proven ability to fault-find and work independently in the field
• A strong safety mindset and pride in quality workmanship
• Current driver's licence (HR licence)
• White Card
• Valuable communication skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach
