About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Accounts Officer to join our finance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is responsible for performing professional accounting and financial operations duties.

Key Responsibilities

- Analysing and classifying financial transactions to ensure accurate recognition of liabilities, assets, and expenses within the general ledger.

- Coding all financial transactions to appropriate general ledger accounts and cost centres in accordance with internal accounting policies and applicable Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).

- Verifying supporting documentation to ensure all transactions are complete, properly authorised, and accurately classified before posting.

- Managing cash flow integrity through complex bank reconciliations and the investigation of systemic discrepancies to maintain financial data accuracy.

- Assisting month-end and period-end closing activities, including the preparation of journals, accruals, and trial balances to support statutory financial reporting.

- Analysing financial data for the preparation of Business Activity Statements (BAS) and ensuring firm-wide compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) regulations.





- Monitoring accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure effective cashflow management and accurate financial recording.

- Ensuring the integrity of financial data and audit trails to facilitate external audits and maintain compliance with statutory record-keeping requirements.

- Providing detailed financial analysis and preparing management reports (including variance analysis) to assist the CFO in strategic decision-making.

- Ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures while supporting improvements in accounting processes and documentation workflows.

- Recording financial transactions and generating reports using accounting software including MYOB and QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and supporting basic system troubleshooting.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Tertiary qualification in accounting or business

- Membership to CPA or CA highly regarded

- 2+ years’ experience in a similar accounting role

- Experience in construction or family-owned SME environment highly regarded

- Proficiency in MYOB and advanced Excel skills

- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize under deadlines

- Effective communication, a can-do attitude, and high energy

- Service-focused mindset and skilled relationship-building ability
