HSE Operations Manager - Transmission Projects - National Portfolio
Flexible location - Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne
UGL Utilities Projects is helping build the transmission network that will power Australia's future. As HSE Operations Manager, you'll lead the HSE function across a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of transmission projects, partnering with senior leaders to manage critical risks, drive performance and shape the future of HSE across one of UGL's fastest-growing businesses.

About the Role
This is an opportunity to lead HSE across one of Australia's largest and fastest-growing transmission project portfolios. You'll partner with senior business leaders to influence strategy, drive critical risk programs and lead a team of HSE and Environmental professionals supporting projects across Australia.
With direct access to executive leadership and the chance to shape how HSE is embedded across the business,
this is a highly visible role with genuine impact on the future of UGL Utilities Projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of HSE strategy, governance, assurance and critical risk programs across the Utilities Projects portfolio.
- Partner with senior leaders, project directors and operational teams to strengthen HSE performance, influence decision-making and embed a positive safety culture.
- Oversee HSE compliance, risk management, audits, investigations and assurance activities, ensuring alignment with legislative, client and UGL requirements.
- Develop capability across project-based HSE teams through coaching, mentoring and leadership, while supporting the growth and performance of the broader HSE function.
- Provide strategic HSE input into project delivery, business development activities, tenders and operational planning.

About You
- Proven success in a senior HSE leadership role within large-scale transmission infrastructure projects, leading HSE strategy and performance across complex, multi-project portfolios.
- Demonstrated ability to influence executives, project directors and operational leaders in complex, high-risk project environments.
- Strong background in critical risk management, assurance, governance and incident investigation.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing HSE teams across multiple project locations.
- Tertiary and/or professional HSE qualifications, with extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and industry standards.
