Hays is currently seeking a motivated and customer-focused Heavy Vehicle Services Officer to join a State Government team. This is an excellent opportunity for an administrator or customer service professional who enjoys problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and working within a technical and operational environment. Full training will be provided to develop your knowledge of heavy vehicle permits, route assessments, and transport regulations.
Your new role
As a Heavy Vehicle Services Officer, you will provide administrative, scheduling, customer service, and technical support to facilitate the protected and efficient movement of heavy vehicles throughout Western Australia.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Assessing and processing Restricted Access Vehicle (RAV) permit applications
- Providing timely advice to customers regarding Notices, Permits, and heavy vehicle access requirements
- Assisting with route assessments and reviewing access requests across the road network
- Coordinating traffic escort bookings and maintaining scheduling rosters
- Arranging travel and accommodation bookings for operational staff where required
- Processing cancellations, refunds, and associated administrative documentation
- Responding to customer enquiries and providing support through a helpdesk environment
- Maintaining accurate records, databases, and stakeholder information
- Assisting with the development and continuous improvement of procedures, documentation, and operational processes
- Preparing recommendations, reports, and correspondence relating to permit and access requests
- Building strong working relationships with industry stakeholders, government agencies, and internal teams
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience in administration, customer service, scheduling, operations support, or a similar role
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn and interpret technical information, policies, procedures, and legislation
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- High attention to detail and accuracy when processing information
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
- A commitment to delivering high-quality customer service
Highly regarded
- Experience working within transport, logistics, infrastructure, road networks, or regulatory environments
- Knowledge of the Western Australian road network
- Experience coordinating schedules, permits, bookings, or operational activities
- Understanding of occupational safety and health principles
