Area Managers (QLD North / QLD South & Central)

Birch Hotel Group is an accommodation business with a portfolio of motels across Queensland. We are seeking two experienced Area Managers to support our Operations Manager and oversee the day-to-day performance of multiple properties.

We are recruiting for the following regions:

- Area Manager – QLD North

- Area Manager – QLD South & Central Queensland

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on hospitality professional who enjoys leading people, improving operational performance, and travelling regularly between a portfolio of motels within your allocated Queensland region to support Motel Managers and their teams.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will oversee a designated portfolio of Birch Hotel Group motels within either North Queensland or South & Central Queensland.

This is a field-based role where you will regularly travel between your allocated motels, providing on-site leadership, coaching and operational support to ensure each property consistently delivers exceptional guest experiences and achieves operational and financial targets.

Key Responsibilities

- Travel regularly between your allocated motel portfolio across your designated Queensland region.

- Provide leadership, coaching and operational support to Motel Managers across multiple properties.

- Monitor daily operations to ensure consistent service standards and compliance.

- Drive guest satisfaction and resolve complex customer concerns.

- Monitor occupancy, ADR, RevPAR and other key performance indicators.

- Assist with budgeting, cost control and financial performance.

- Ensure housekeeping standards and room quality are maintained.





- Coordinate maintenance requirements to ensure properties remain secure and well presented.

- Support recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management of motel teams.

- Assist managers with rostering and workforce planning.

- Monitor OTA performance including Booking.com and Expedia.

- Ensure compliance with Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) requirements and company policies.

- Prepare operational reports and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and operational efficiencies.

- Provide additional operational support at properties when required.

About You

You are a motivated hospitality leader who enjoys mentoring teams while maintaining a strong commercial focus.

To be successful you will have:

- Previous experience managing motel or hotel operations across one or multiple properties.

- Strong leadership and people management skills.

- Experience supporting and developing managers and frontline teams.

- Excellent knowledge of front office operations, reservations and guest services.

- Strong understanding of housekeeping operations and presentation standards.

- Experience coordinating maintenance and property upkeep.

- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.





- Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locations.

- Experience monitoring operational performance and KPIs.

- Knowledge of OTA platforms including Booking.com and Expedia.

- Experience using Property Management Systems (RMS experience highly regarded).

- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- High attention to detail with a proactive and hands-on approach.

- Current Australian Driver's Licence and the ability and willingness to travel extensively between your allocated motel portfolio throughout Queensland.

- Multi-site motel or hotel management experience.

- Experience with budgeting and financial reporting.

- Recruitment, training and performance management experience.

- Experience implementing operational improvements and new systems.
