This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a basic understanding of telecommunications, IT, electronics or networking—or simply a genuine interest in the field—to develop their skills while working on the critical communications network that supports Tasmania's electricity system.

You'll learn from experienced technicians, receive ongoing training, and gain hands-on experience with industry-leading technology in a supportive team environment.

Working alongside experienced Telecommunications Technical Officers, you'll:

- Help deliver telecommunications projects and technical support for internal and external customers
- Participate in preventative and corrective maintenance activities to keep our network operating safely and reliably
- Learn to maintain remote telecommunications sites and network infrastructure
- Use digital systems to record work and maintain accurate asset information
- Assist with managing network spares and equipment
- Build your technical capability through structured training and on-the-job learning
- Develop the skills to participate in a 24/7 on-call roster as your experience grows

About you

You don't need years of experience—we're looking for someone with the right attitude and a willingness to learn.

Ideally, you'll have:

- An interest in telecommunications, electronics, networking or technology
- Basic knowledge of telecommunications, IT or electrical systems (through study, work or personal interest)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- A genuine commitment to safety and quality
- The ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new systems and technologies

- A current driver's licence (or the ability to obtain one)

Experience or exposure to any of the following would be advantageous, but isn't essential:

- Radio communications
- Fibre optic installation or testing
- IP or data networks
- Telephony systems
- Utility or carrier telecommunications networks
- SAP or other enterprise systems

You'll also need to be physically capable of performing the role, including working at heights and climbing telecommunications towers.
