About the role

Hesperia Industrial Painting Services PTY LTD is seeking an experienced Sandblaster/Painter to join our growing team. This is a full-time position based in Hazelmere, Western Australia. In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering high-quality surface preparation and coating services to our industrial clients. As a Sandblaster/Painter, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces to precise specifications and applying protective coatings that meet industry standards and client requirements. This position is essential to maintaining our reputation for excellence and safety in the industrial services sector.

Key responsibilities

1. Operate sandblasting equipment to remove rust, corrosion, old coatings, and contaminants from metal and structural surfaces

2. Prepare surfaces to the required standard specifications, including blast cleaning to AS/NZS ISO 8501-1 standards where applicable

3. Apply protective coatings, including primers, intermediate coats, and topcoats, using spray and brush application techniques

4. Inspect surfaces and completed work to ensure quality standards are met and all defects are rectified

5. Maintain and clean sandblasting and painting equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity

6. Follow all health and safety protocols, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices on site

7. Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet project deadlines and client specifications

8. Maintain detailed records of work completed, materials used, and any safety incidents

Adhere to environmental regulations and proper disposal procedures for waste materials and chemicals

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience as a Sandblaster/Painter or in a similar industrial coating role

2. Strong knowledge of surface preparation techniques and coating systems

3. Competency in operating sandblasting equipment and spray application systems

4. Familiarity with relevant Australian standards for surface preparation and coating application

5. With Western Australia Drivers Licence for site access and travel to various locations

6. Valid White Card or willingness to obtain one for working on construction and industrial sites

7. A robust commitment to health and safety practices and procedures

8. The ability to work at heights and in confined spaces where required

9. Proof that you have successfully completed a drug and alcohol screening (test)

10. Forklift license good to have but not essential

11. National police clearance required

12. The ability to work independently and as part of a team

13. Valid work visa accepted for candidates with appropriate Australian work rights
