Medical Secretary / Administrator – Specialist Orthopaedic Practice (Full-Time)Join our friendly, professional and supportive Specialist Orthopaedic team in Newcastle.We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Medical Secretary / Administrator to join our busy specialist practice on a full-time basis.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a rapid-paced environment, takes pride in delivering exceptional patient care, and thrives as part of a collaborative team. You'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our practice while providing outstanding service to our patients and clinicians.About the RoleAs the first point of contact for our patients, you'll provide a warm and professional experience while managing a variety of administrative responsibilities, including:Welcoming and assisting patientsAnswering and managing incoming phone callsScheduling and coordinating appointmentsBilling patients and processing paymentsProcessing Medicare rebatesPreparing patient quotesCoordinating theatre bookingsDaily banking and reconciliationScanning, filing and maintaining patient recordsProcessing specialist correspondence using AI dictation softwareGeneral administrative duties to support the practiceEssential CriteriaTo be successful in this role, you will have:A minimum of 2 years' experience in a private medical practiceAt least 5 years' administration or secretarial experienceOutstanding customer service and communication skillsExcellent organisational and time management skillsStrong attention to detail and accuracyAdvanced computer skills and confidence learning new softwareThe ability to prioritise competing tasks and work efficiently under pressureA proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a teamPlease note: Due to the specialised nature of this role, only applicants who meet the essential criteria will be considered.Desirable ExperienceWhile not essential, the following will be highly regarded:Experience using Gentu medical softwarePrevious experience in an orthopaedic specialist practiceKnowledge of medical terminology, Medicare and private health fund billingWhat We OfferA full-time position within a well-established and respected specialist practiceThe opportunity to work alongside five experienced orthopaedic surgeonsA supportive, friendly and collaborative team environmentA varied and rewarding role with opportunities to further develop your administrative skillsA 4-day working week with one rostered day off each week (Monday)Practice hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 5:30 pmImmediate start availableAbout UsAt The Orthopaedic Clinic, we are committed to providing exceptional orthopaedic care and delivering an outstanding experience for every patient.
