About Keystart
Keystart is a progressive, innovative, purpose-driven organisation that delivers real social impact by making the dream of an affordable home a reality for more people. We’re proud of our workplace culture, and we prioritise the wellbeing and job satisfaction of our people. We acknowledge and understand the importance of disconnecting from work and believe that our employees have the right to enjoy time off without non-essential work-related interruptions.
About the role
The Credit Risk Manager provides independent Line 2 oversight and decisioning across Keystart's commercial property finance and consumer lending portfolios. The role supports the design, implementation and ongoing oversight of lending products, ensuring prudent credit risk management while enabling the delivery of Keystart’s strategic objectives.
From a transactional perspective, the Credit Risk Manager works closely and collaboratively with the Commercial Property Finance team to provide independent credit risk input into higher-complexity transactions, including deal structuring, credit decisioning and transaction finalisation for new and innovative commercial property finance initiatives. The role may also involve limited customer engagement where appropriate, collaboration with skilled advisers (including valuers, lawyers and corporate advisers) and, where required, co-management of higher-risk or problematic transactions.
The role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Line 2 Credit Risk Framework, providing effective challenge to lending proposals, product and policy changes, monitoring portfolio performance and emerging risks, and providing independent credit risk advice throughout the product lifecycle to ensure lending activities remain within Keystart’s Risk Appetite, Credit Risk Management Framework and regulatory obligations.
As Keystart’s Line 2 credit risk subject matter expert, the Credit Risk Manager provides trusted advice and effective challenge to ensure commercial opportunities are balanced with sound risk management,
supporting sustainable lending outcomes and strong credit risk governance across the organisation.

- Substantial experience (5+ years) in senior credit risk, commercial lending or banking roles, including leadership responsibilities.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Economics or a related discipline, or equivalent banking and credit risk experience.
- Demonstrated experience exercising a significant delegated lending authority (greater than $10 million).
- End-to-end experience across the lending lifecycle, including origination, assessment, approval, settlement and ongoing portfolio management.
- Demonstrated experience managing lending portfolios, complex or impaired credit exposures, and credit risk policies, frameworks and governance processes.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex credit transactions and identify emerging risks.
- Proven ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships and provide independent, constructive challenge while supporting commercially sound outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation and presentation of reports and recommendations for Executive and Board audiences.
- Experience developing or implementing credit risk frameworks, policies or lending products would be highly regarded.
- Exposure to consumer credit risk management, including retail lending, is desirable but not essential.
