2IC / Senior Project Engineer - Structural Integrity (Contract) | Rio Tinto Cape Lambert

An established Australian engineering contractor is seeking an experienced 2IC / Senior Project Engineer to join a high-profile structural integrity project at Rio Tinto's Cape Lambert operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer ready to step into a 2IC role or a Junior Project Manager looking to further develop their leadership experience on a critical brownfields mining infrastructure project.
Working closely with the Project Manager, you'll play a key role in coordinating project delivery, managing stakeholders, overseeing site execution, and ensuring works are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

The Project

The project focuses on the ongoing structural integrity of a major wharf facility, including:

- Access solutions
- Structural steel repairs and modifications
- Weld repairs
- Surface preparation and protective coatings
- Brownfields shutdown and maintenance works

Candidates with an SMP background and exposure to marine, wharf, ports or heavy industrial infrastructure will be highly regarded.

About You

To be successful, you will ideally have:





- Minimum 5 years' experience delivering projects within WA's mining and resources sector
- Experience as a Senior Project Engineer, Project Engineer or Junior Project Manager
- Strong background delivering structural integrity, SMP, remediation or maintenance projects
- Exposure to structural steel, welding, protective coatings or heavy industrial maintenance
- Marine, port or wharf infrastructure experience highly desirable
- Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills
- Strong commercial awareness and planning capability
- Full Australian working rights (sponsorship is not available)

- Contract Rate: $120-$135/hr + Super (dependent on experience)
- 3-6 month contract with an immediate start

- Flexible FIFO roster to suit the right candidate:
- Preferred: 5/2 then 4/3
- Also open to 9/5 or 2/1 roster patterns
