Job DescriptionSenior Structural Technician - MaritimeJoin WSP's national Maritime team and help deliver major maritime, Defence, transport and infrastructure projects across Australia.This is an opportunity for an experienced Senior Structural Technician to play a key role in the development and coordination of high-quality digital engineering models and technical documentation for complex infrastructure projects. You'll work closely with structural, civil, geotechnical and maritime engineers to turn engineering concepts into coordinated, accurate and constructible design documentation.You'll be part of a collaborative national team working across ports, wharves, jetties, terminals, marine facilities, Defence infrastructure and major transport projects, supporting delivery from concept design through to detailed design and construction.
What You'll DoIn this role, you'll use your Revit, drafting and digital engineering capability to support the delivery of technical documentation across major maritime and infrastructure projects.
Your Responsibilities Will IncludeDeveloping and maintaining high-quality Revit models and associated documentation for maritime infrastructure projectsPreparing structural drawings, details, schedules and general arrangement documentation to WSP and client standardsSupporting the delivery of ports, wharves, jetties, terminals, marine facilities and Defence infrastructure projectsWorking with multidisciplinary engineering teams to translate design concepts into coordinated documentationParticipating in BIM coordination and model reviews to identify and resolve design interfaces and clashesProducing accurate and constructible documentation across concept,
preliminary and detailed design phasesCoordinating model and drawing information across project teams throughout AustraliaSupporting construction phase delivery through design revisions, responses to contractor queries and as-constructed documentationContributing to digital engineering initiatives, model management processes and continuous improvement of BIM workflowsProviding guidance and mentoring to junior technicians and graduatesSupporting a positive safety culture and applying Safety in Design principles
About YouYou'll bring strong technical drafting, BIM and digital engineering experience, ideally gained within a consulting engineering, contractor or infrastructure environment.
You'll Also BringDemonstrated experience using Autodesk Revit for structural and civil infrastructure projectsAdvanced capability in structural modelling, drawing production and documentationStrong understanding of structural detailing principles for reinforced concrete, steel and civil infrastructure worksExperience producing coordinated design documentation for complex infrastructure projectsStrong understanding of engineering documentation standards and drafting practicesAbility to work effectively in multidisciplinary project teamsHigh attention to detail and a strong commitment to qualityAbility to manage competing priorities and deliver to programme deadlinesA practical understanding of constructability and how documentation is used throughout project deliveryStrong communication and interpersonal skillsA proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvementCommitment to mentoring others and sharing technical knowledge
Experience in maritime, port, defence, transport or major civil infrastructure projects will be highly regarded. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, BIM coordination platforms or model management processes would also be beneficial.
Due to the nature of some project work, you will need to be an Australian citizen or otherwise eligible to obtain and maintain Defence security clearance.
