Top resources group seeking a strong Category Specialist to drive stakeholder and contract management.

Your new company
One of mining & resources' top leading companies is now seeking a strong procurement & contract management specialist to join their functional group strategic team. As business is growing, they are seeking an immediate start on a fixed-term contract (minimum 12 months, with a view to pivot to permanency).

Your current role
As a centralised function, the team supports the various op-cos in managing spend and providing insight into cost-management strategies. They are looking to engage a technical subject-matter expert who is able to strategise and execute optimal category plans across multiple operational and project environments. You will manage centralised suppliers and oversee performance management, contracting, escalations for supplier or payment related issues, Procurement SOP compliance etc. within the Services categories (eg: equipment hire, capital sourcing, labour services etc. You will also identify and recommend opportunities for risk mitigation, continuous improvement, data-driven analytics and user education.

What you'll need to succeed

- Proven track record in category management roles across Heavy Equipment, Mining, or O&G; industries, with measurable achievements in cost & performance management

- Strong commercial acumen,



negotiation and analytical skills, managing expectations upwards and downwards, ideally with experience in lean environments.

- Able to showcase effective business case presentations, including risk management strategies, to key stakeholders, eg: leadership, clients, 3rd party governance.

- Self-driven with a strong sense of urgency

- Flexible and adaptable to dynamic environments

- Familiarity with Excel, Oracle or SAP (MM Module and others) and e-Procurement systems
