About our region

West Arnhem Regional Council covers an area of almost 50,000 km2 of stunning natural landscape in the western part of Arnhem Land, Northern Territory.

More than two-thirds of the region’s population of just over 6,000 identify as Aboriginal Australians, who reside in a collection of towns, communities and outstations. Council provides a range of local government services to five towns and communities across five wards with many popular tourist destinations.

About the role

The Council Services Manager will be responsible for managing the day‑to‑day operations of Council services in the Warruwi community on South Goulburn Island. This includes leading and directing employees by building and maintaining productive teams and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will direct, oversee, and monitor a multidisciplinary team delivering community works, wellbeing activities, postal, administration, trades and events, while building robust relationships and driving high‑quality services that genuinely reflect local needs, culture and Council priorities.

About you

- Previous management experience, with well‑developed skills in operations, asset management, project management, service delivery programs, people management, budget analysis and business operations.





- Strong relationship‑builder with excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict‑resolution skills.

- Sound understanding of issues affecting Indigenous communities and a respectful, culturally aware approach.

- Solid knowledge of WHS, environmental and local government legislation, and the ability to ensure compliance in day‑to‑day operations.

- Highly organised, able to juggle multiple priorities and meet critical timeframes.

- Clear communicator with well‑developed written skills and the ability to handle sensitive matters with care.
