Leading Hand Parks
Lead a parks crew that helps keep the City of Canning's parks, gardens, and open spaces looking their best. If you're an experienced horticulture or parks skilled who enjoys leading teams, taking pride in quality work, and making a visible impact in the community, we'd love to hear from you.
About the role
As a Leading Hand - Parks, you will oversee a small operational crew and play a key role in maintaining the City's parks, reserves, streetscapes, and landscaped areas. You'll combine your technical horticultural knowledge with practical leadership skills to deliver high-quality outcomes for our community.
A snapshot of your new role:
- Lead, support and mentor a team delivering parks and garden maintenance activities.
- Coordinate daily work programs and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Maintain high standards across turf, garden beds, irrigation systems, and landscaped areas.
- Operate and oversee the safe use of plant and equipment.
- Work closely with supervisors, technical officers, contractors and residents to achieve positive outcomes.
- Contribute ideas that improve service delivery and operational efficiency
What you will bring to the role:
- Demonstrated experience in parks, gardens, horticulture, turf management or a similar environment.
- Certificate Horticulture Certificate III, or Turf Management Certificate III, or Parks and Gardens Certificate III; and/or trade qualified through another recognised route.
- Experience in leading, mentoring, or overseeing the operational functioning of the crew
- MR Driver’s Licence
- WA White Card
- Current Satisfactory National Police Clearance
