We are currently recruiting for an experienced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor to join our team, reporting to the HSEQ Manager - Maritime.

About the Opportunity

As a HSE Advisor, you will play a vital role in supporting the safe, compliant and environmentally responsible delivery of maritime, port and shore-based operations in our Northern Territory maritime operations. Working across both vessel and shoreside environments, you will help drive the effective implementation of our Integrated Management System (IMS) and AMSA-compliant Safety Management System (SMS).

Partnering closely with operational leaders, vessel crews, contractors and support teams, you will provide practical health, safety and environmental guidance that strengthens risk management, verifies critical controls and promotes best-practice operational performance. The role also contributes to marine assurance activities, incident investigations, environmental compliance initiatives and workforce engagement programs.

What you'll be doing

- Provide practical HSE advice, coaching and support to managers, supervisors, employees and contractors across maritime, port and shore-based operations

- Support the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of IMS and SMS, procedures, standards and safe work practices

- Conduct workplace inspections, vessel or site visits, audits and compliance checks to identify hazards, verify controls and support corrective actions





- Facilitate and review risk assessments, hazard analyses, job safety assessments and safe work method statements for operational activities

- Support incident, near miss and hazard reporting, including investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions and communication of lessons learned

- Monitor compliance with applicable health, safety and environmental legislation, maritime requirements, client expectations and company policies

- Assist with emergency preparedness activities, including drills, response plans and verification of emergency equipment and procedures

- Prepare and maintain HSE records, reports, registers and performance data to support management review and operational decision-making

- Deliver or coordinate HSE inductions, toolbox talks, safety campaigns and training to build workforce awareness and capability

- Promote a positive safety culture by engaging with operational teams, encouraging hazard reporting and supporting continuous improvement initiatives

What we're looking for

Essential

- Demonstrated experience in an HSE Advisor or similar safety role in high-risk work environments

- Sound understanding of Australian WHS legislation, environmental obligations and practical risk management requirements

- Experience supporting HSE management systems, audits, inspections, incident investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement activities

- Ability to obtain and maintain required site, port or maritime access clearances, including MSIC where required

- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel to vessels, ports, project sites and other operational locations as required





- Ability to meet role-related pre-employment requirements, which may include medical assessment and drug and alcohol screening

- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent HSE qualification.

Desirable

- Knowledge of AMSA requirements, Safety Management Systems (SMS), ISM Code principles and marine assurance activities.

- Experience with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 or integrated HSEQ management systems.

- Experience supporting environmental management, including spill response, waste management and pollution prevention.

- Training or experience in incident investigation methodologies (e.g. ICAM).

- Experience with emergency preparedness, drills and response coordination.

- Familiarity with contractor management, permit-to-work systems and high-risk work activities.

- Relevant AMSA certifications (highly regarded).
