We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled CNC Machinist to join our advanced manufacturing team. Working within a large engineering organisation, you will be responsible for operating, programming, and setting CNC machinery to produce high-quality precision components for a range of industries including mining, defence, manufacturing, energy, and heavy engineering.

About the Role
Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, you will operate and maintain CNC machining equipment while ensuring components are manufactured to exact specifications, tolerances, and quality standards. You will work alongside engineers, programmers, and skilled trades professionals in a modern engineering setting.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC lathes, CNC mills, and machining centres.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Perform CNC programming, editing, and optimisation of machine programs.
Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining methods.
Conduct precision machining of components to required tolerances.
Complete in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment.
Perform tool changes, offsets, and machine adjustments.
Identify and resolve machining issues to improve efficiency and quality.
Maintain accurate production records and inspection documentation.
Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing team.
Essential Requirements
Trade qualification in CNC Machining, Fitting and Machining, or Mechanical Engineering.
Demonstrated experience operating CNC machinery in a precision manufacturing environment.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T; principles.
Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and cutting parameters.
Experience using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, and gauges.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performing team.
Desirable
Experience with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, Mazak, Haas, or similar.
Experience with CAD/CAM software.
Programming experience for CNC machining applications.
Background in heavy engineering, mining, defence, aerospace, or specialised manufacturing.
Experience working with complex materials including stainless steel, alloys, and hardened steels.
Knowledge of quality management systems and inspection procedures.
