Bechtel is providing a wide variety project and contract management services, crossing all disciplines, to customers in Western Australia to support exciting capital works programmes, including in aviation, defence and energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us in a long-term relationship to deliver these services in and around Perth where we are working within integrated teams with our customers and to help build Bechtel’s capabilities for even greater opportunities in the future.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a high-performance team to develop and manage complex Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H;) project programs.
You will assist functional leads to ensure requirements are properly integrated and be responsible for overall project ES&H; execution. Your leadership will help achieve ES&H; performance expectations, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Major Responsibilities:
- Ensures maintenance of ES&H; databases, inclusive of incident events, audit/assessment findings, and corrective actions
- Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary for the safety and health of employees and protection of the environment and communities
- Performs statistical analysis of ES&H; data to identify performance trends and contributing factors as part of continuous improvement and makes recommendations accordingly
- Identifies and supports implementation of unique software systems and electronic innovation used by ES&H; personnel
- Leads teams in conducting risk assessment, studies, mitigation planning, and monitoring in response to ES&H; issues
- Prepares communications, writes reports, and prepares documents for program execution and records retention
- Coordinates incident notifications, leads investigations, and prepares incident investigation reports
- Recommends and implements improvements in processes, procedures, and work activities to minimize hazard potential
- Leads employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs
- Leads coordination of ES&H; recognition programs
- Researches moderately complex issues and provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice
- Provides support to ES&H; field and office personnel, inclusive of all ES&H; disciplines
- Provides oversight of contactors to ensure compliance to PAPL procedures
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experienc
- Minimum of 10 years of WHS professional experience in heavy construction or infrastructure projects.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of safety management, monitoring programs, principles, and methodologies;
- Working knowledge of safe work practices and experience in conducting incident investigations, compliance audits and project health surveys;
- Previous Senior Advisor/Supervisory experience is essential; ICAM or TapRoot Certificate preferred.
- Manages the work efforts of professionals
- Makes decisions based on unit objectives, as well as company policies and procedures
- May be responsible for a functional Program and not have any subordinate employees
- Assists and may mentor less experienced team members
