Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) Technician

Our client is looking to hire a Cardiac Electrophysiology Technician to join the cardiac catheterisation laboratory team, supporting a complex electrophysiology list on a permanent part-time basis.
About the Facility
A large private hospital on the NSW Central Coast, with two cardiac catheterisation laboratories, nine operating theatres and a dedicated heart centre providing diagnostic and interventional cardiac care to the region. The electrophysiology list runs three days a week, with no on-call requirement outside rostered days.
The Role
You will provide specialised technical support across a busy EP list, preparing laboratories and equipment, operating recording and mapping systems, and supporting electrophysiologists through diagnostic studies and ablation procedures.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing electrophysiology laboratories for procedures, ensuring equipment is functional and calibrated
- Operating and maintaining EP recording systems and haemodynamic monitoring equipment
- Supporting electrophysiologists during diagnostic EP studies and ablation procedures (radiofrequency, pulsed field and cryoablation, SVT/VT, AF/PVI, atrial flutter and PVC ablation)
- Acquiring, analysing and interpreting intracardiac electrograms under physician direction
- Maintaining inventory of procedural equipment, catheters and consumables
- Complying with infection control and radiation safety standards
- Contributing to quality improvement, audits and accreditation activities
What You Will Need:
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent, with cardiac EP technician experience
- Demonstrated experience in a cardiac catheterisation laboratory,
EP laboratory or cardiac device service
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience with EP recording/mapping systems (e.g. CARTO, EnSite, Rhythmia) is highly regarded but not essential - full training provided
- Strong technical troubleshooting, communication and documentation skills
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a complex procedural environment
- Unrestricted right to work in Australia

Performance Objectives
- Deliver EP Procedural Support: Prepare and operate electrophysiology recording, monitoring and mapping systems to support diagnostic studies and ablation procedures with precision and efficiency.
- Maintain Equipment Excellence: Keep EP laboratory equipment calibrated, functional and compliant with manufacturer and safety standards, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Support Complex Ablation Lists: Assist electrophysiologists through radiofrequency, pulsed field and cryoablation procedures, including AF, atrial flutter, SVT/VT and PVC ablations.
- Accurate Data Capture: Acquire, analyse and interpret intracardiac electrograms under physician direction,
ensuring reliable procedural records.
- Uphold Safety Standards: Maintain infection control and radiation safety practices, and contribute to quality improvement and accreditation activities.
Environment & Resources
You will work within a dedicated cardiac catheterisation service running a complex electrophysiology list, supported by two catheterisation laboratories and a broader cardiac care team. You will report to the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory Nurse Unit Manager, with access to ongoing professional development in EP technologies and procedures.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent, with experience as a Cardiac EP Technician
- Demonstrated experience in a cardiac catheterisation laboratory, electrophysiology laboratory or cardiac device service
- Experience operating EP recording, monitoring and pacing equipment during procedures
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong technical troubleshooting, communication and documentation skills
