About the Role
We are recruiting a Registered Nurse, Scrub/Scout, to join an established day surgery perioperative team in the Adelaide area, on a 0.6 FTE basis, weekdays only.
This role calls for a nurse with strong scrub/scout experience across both ophthalmology and oral/dental procedures. This combination is non-negotiable for this vacancy.
What You'll Be Doing
- Scrubbing and scouting for ophthalmology and oral/dental surgical lists
- Preparing and maintaining the sterile field, instruments and equipment for each case
- Anticipating surgeon and procedural requirements during cases
- Managing instrument counts, stock and equipment specific to ophthalmic and oral/dental lists
- Working with the surgical team to support patient safety checks throughout each list

- A theatre team of around 20 permanent and casual staff
- A future 0.7 FTE Clinical Nurse (Ophthalmology & Oral) position is expected to be approved soon, for nurses looking to progress
What You'll Need
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Scrub/scout experience in ophthalmology procedures
- Scrub/scout experience in oral/dental procedures

Performance Objectives
- Deliver Specialist Scrub/Scout Support: Scrub and scout confidently across ophthalmology and oral/dental surgical lists.
- Maintain Sterile Field Standards: Prepare and maintain the sterile field, instruments and equipment for each case.
- Anticipate Procedural Needs: Anticipate surgeon and procedural requirements throughout each list.
- Manage Specialist Stock: Manage instrument counts, stock and equipment specific to ophthalmic and oral/dental lists.
Environment & Resources
You will join an established day surgery perioperative team in the Adelaide area, working alongside a theatre team of around 20 permanent and casual staff, with weekday-only hours and no on-call or night duty.
Essential Qualifications
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Scrub/scout experience in ophthalmology procedures
- Scrub/scout experience in oral/dental procedures (this combination is essential for this role)
