Townsville Grammar School is one of the original Grammar Schools of Queensland. The Year 7-12 campus is located on the original site at North Ward. The School also operates two Junior School campuses, both offering Pre-Prep to Year 6, at Annandale and North Shore.

Townsville Grammar School is a co-educational, non-denominational School with a current enrolment of approximately 1400 students, including 120 boarders (7-12), of whom approximately 25 are international students.

As one of the eight original Grammar Schools in Queensland, Townsville Grammar School was established in 1888 and has offered boarding since this time. The School has a long-standing reputation as the leading academic school in Northern Queensland, also offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for Years 11 and 12.

We are seeking an exceptional Design and Technologies Teacher to join our vibrant secondary school community. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to deliver engaging and contemporary learning experiences that combine traditional timber craftsmanship with modern design processes and product prototyping.

As a member of our Technology faculty, you will work with students across Years 7-12, helping them develop the technical skills, creativity and design thinking capabilities required for success in an ever-evolving world. You will have the opportunity to guide students from concept to creation, fostering innovation, problem-solving and a passion for making.

About the Role

You will:

- Teach Design and Technologies across Years 7-12.

- Deliver engaging projects that integrate timber, materials technologies and digital fabrication.

- Foster creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial thinking through authentic design challenges.

- Build students' confidence in workshop practices, safe machine operation and the responsible use of technologies.

- Use contemporary teaching practices to support student achievement and growth.

- Contribute to curriculum development,



innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Build robust relationships with students, families and colleagues.

You will also contribute to the broader life of the School by working collaboratively with colleagues, engaging professionally with parents, and participating in co-curricular activities and School events.

About You

You are an outstanding educator who brings:

- Relevant teaching qualifications and teacher registration.

- Experience teaching Design and Technologies in a secondary school setting.

- Strong knowledge of timber and materials technologies, design processes and workshop practices.

- Experience with, or a willingness to engage in, CAD, digital design and fabrication technologies.

- A passion for developing students' creativity, curiosity and problem-solving skills.

- Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.

- A collaborative approach and commitment to ongoing professional growth.
