About the Position
The Bushfires Spatial Data and Outreach Officer will develop and deliver practical, research-based spatial data and tools for north Australian and rangelands fire managers as part of the North Australia and Rangelands Fire Information (NAFI) service.

Delivery will be primarily via the NAFI portal and online training modules and may include some face-to-face workshops. Developing and improving these products involves working with end-users using well established networks with fire managers across the rangelands, and on engaging with the latest applied research developments.

The appointee will be expected to:

- Develop and deliver spatial data and associated tools to north Australian and rangelands fire managers
- Develop training and outreach resources around the use of spatial data to north Australian and rangelands fire managers
- Respond to feedback from, and work with end users in developing the spatial data and training resources
- Be aware of and use appropriate research findings in the development of the spatial data products and training resources

About You
To be successful, you will require:

- Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management or similar with 2 years subsequent relevant experience or extensive experience and management expertise in the technical field or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Knowledge of image processing techniques and their application to burnt area mapping.
- Demonstrated experience in producing online training and outreach content.
- Knowledge of north Australian/Rangelands fire management
- Demonstrated knowledge of academic and administrative policies and the interrelationships between a range of policies and activities.
- Experience working with remote/rural communities in Northern Australia.
- Demonstrated capacity to take direction and work independently and innovatively towards achieving an analytical product.

Desirable competencies

- Experience in developing/delivering training resources to land managers
- Experience in working with fire managers in northern/rangelands Australia.





Appointment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory National Criminal History check and a valid NT Working with Children clearance

Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at HE Academic Level A. The base salary will be in the range of $76,604 - $114,924 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $89,626 - $134,461 per annum, inclusive of 17% superannuation.
