The opportunity

Most part-time physio roles hand you a diary someone else built and a plan someone else signed off. This one hands you the patient and trusts you to work it out.

Summit Wellness Physiotherapy is looking for a part-time physiotherapist who can run a full outpatient caseload without needing to be steered through it. You will assess, screen, diagnose, treat and manage patients with musculoskeletal, sports and rehabilitation needs - and you will make the clinical calls yourself. We are not looking for someone to fill sessions. We are looking for someone whose judgement we can build a practice around.

What makes this role different

• Your clinical reasoning is the job. Assessment findings land on your desk and the diagnosis is yours to make. Treatment direction, progression, escalation - your call, backed by evidence rather than habit.

• You work at your own pace. This is not a conveyor belt with a stopwatch on it. You set the rhythm of your day and manage your own book, with the autonomy to run it properly.

• Evidence-based practice is the floor, not the ceiling. Current research, clinical guidelines and real outcome measures are how we decide things here. If you are the kind of physio who reads the paper before changing the protocol, you will fit.

• You are measured on outcomes, not attendance. Patient progress, goal achievement and rebooking tell us the work is working. Session counts do not.

• An interdisciplinary team you can actually use. GPs, specialists, allied health and support staff you can pick up the phone to, and who will pick up the phone to you.

• Room to build something that is yours. Grow your own caseload, build your own referral relationships, and put your name on the quality of the work.

What this role is not

• It is not a treatment conveyor belt with your name on the door.

• It is not a role where you wait for a senior clinician to sign off your diagnosis.

• It is not a locum patch-up. We are hiring someone who wants to build here.

• It is not for someone who treats clinical notes as tomorrow’s problem.

• It is not for a physio who needs to be told what the next step is.

The role: assess, decide, progress

Day to day, you will:

• Run comprehensive assessments - screening, examination, diagnosis, intervention and ongoing management across a broad outpatient caseload.

• Make the clinical call and build an evidence-based treatment plan that fits the patient in front of you, not the textbook version of them.

• Monitor progress honestly,

review what the treatment is actually doing, and change the plan when it is not working.

• Teach patients to manage their own recovery - education, rehabilitation programs and self-management strategies that hold up after they leave the room.

• Keep documentation accurate and on time. Notes within 24 hours, reports within 48.

• Communicate clearly with patients, referrers, GPs, specialists, insurers and employers about care and progress.

• Run your own appointment book well - a full, well-paced diary that keeps patients coming back because the treatment worked.

• Deliver safe patient care, and identify and drive continuous safety and quality improvement rather than waiting for someone else to raise it.

• Show up to clinical and team meetings with something to contribute, and keep your CPD moving to advance your own standards and skills.

• Maintain AHPRA registration, qualified indemnity insurance and adherence to ethical and legal requirements.

What success looks like in your first 12 months

• Patient satisfaction sitting above 90% across surveys and feedback.

• More than 80% of your patients achieving or measurably progressing toward their goals within the expected timeframe.

• Every clinical note completed within 24 hours and every report within 48.

• Your diary running above 85% utilisation of available appointment slots each month.

• A rebooking rate above 70% where ongoing treatment is clinically indicated.

• Billable revenue of [insert weekly target] per week.

• Referrers who send you their next difficult case because you handled the last one well.

Who we are looking for

An AHPRA-registered physiotherapist who is clinically strong, self-directed and decisive. You are comfortable being the one who works out what is going on, you say what you think plainly, and you are precise about the things that matter - diagnosis, documentation and patient safety.

• Demonstrated clinical experience, knowledge and competence in the physiotherapeutic management of patients - typically 3 years or more in private practice or an outpatient musculoskeletal setting.

• Intermediate to advanced assessment and diagnosis across a wide range of musculoskeletal and sports-related conditions, working independently.

• Strong hands-on treatment skills - evidence-based manual therapy, exercise prescription and rehabilitation techniques.

• Sound clinical decision making. You reason from the findings, decide, and move - without sitting on it or hedging.

• A high level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.

• Direct communication. Patients and referrers should never have to guess what you meant about a diagnosis, a plan or a timeframe.

• Precision and conscientiousness with notes, consent, privacy and professional standards.

• Initiative. You work well with minimal supervision and go looking for the next thing rather than waiting to be handed it.

Bonus points for:

• Sports physiotherapy and athletic injury management.

• Dry needling, clinical Pilates, or strength and conditioning.

• WorkCover, motor vehicle accident, DVA, EPC/CDM and NDIS patient management.

• Confidence with practice management software and electronic health records.

• A track record of building and holding referral relationships.

If you are close but not a perfect match on paper, apply anyway and show us how you think.

Why Summit Wellness

Summit Wellness began as a small initiative supporting athletes through strapping tape sales and has grown into a community-focused physiotherapy and Pilates practice founded by a hospital physiotherapist passionate about preventing avoidable health issues and improving quality of life. Inspired by the symbolism if a mountain summit, the business is built on helping people overcome challenges, regain function, prevent injuries and achieve their best possible health and wellbeing, with a long-term vision to expland its reach and grow into a trusted multidisplinary wellness service within the Perth community.

We back clinicians who take ownership. That means genuine autonomy over your caseload and your clinical decisions, an environment where high standards are the norm rather than a poster on the wall, and the support of a team that would rather solve a hard case together than quietly refer it on.

Clinicans have the opportunity to work with a diverse musculoskeletal caseload- including sports injuries, spinal conditions, post-opertaive rehabilitation, and exercise-based rehabilitation-with access to a large gym space and Pilates equipments in a collaborative clinical environment.
