About the role

Byzantine REO Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and qualified Carpenter with strong formwork experience to join our construction team in Perth.

This is a full-time position working across construction projects throughout the Perth metropolitan area. The successful applicant will be responsible for carpentry and formwork activities associated with concrete and structural construction works.

We are looking for someone who can work safely and independently, interpret construction drawings accurately and deliver formwork and carpentry work to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

Your duties will include:

- Reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans and specifications
- Measuring, setting out and calculating material requirements
- Selecting, measuring, cutting and preparing timber and other construction materials
- Constructing, erecting, installing and dismantling formwork
- Constructing formwork for slabs, footings, walls, columns, beams and other concrete structures
- Erecting temporary frameworks, supports, shutters and associated formwork structures
- Checking formwork for correct dimensions, levels, alignment and structural accuracy
- Installing and repairing carpentry structures and fixtures where required
- Using hand and power tools safely and correctly
- Working alongside reinforcement, concrete and site construction teams
- Following site drawings, SWMS, JHAs and project specifications
- Completing daily pre-starts and complying with site safety requirements
- Maintaining tools, equipment and work areas
- Ensuring work is completed safely, accurately and within project timeframes

These duties closely follow the recognised Carpenter occupation, which includes constructing and repairing structures, interpreting drawings, selecting and cutting materials, erecting frameworks and potentially constructing concrete formwork.





ANZSCO classifies Carpenter as Skill Level 3 and recognises Formwork Carpenter as a Carpenter specialisation.

Key Responsibilities

Essential requirements

To be considered for the position, applicants should have:

- Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent recognised trade qualification
- At least 2 years of relevant carpentry and/or formwork experience
- Demonstrated experience in commercial, civil or structural formwork
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience measuring, cutting, assembling and erecting formwork
- Current Construction White Card
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- Ability to safely use carpentry hand and power tools
- Positive communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently when required
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
- Current driver’s licence
- Ability to travel to construction sites throughout the Perth metropolitan area
