Geraldton Fishermens Co-operative

Perth

At Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative (GFC), we’re a little different — and we like it that way.
Created by members, run for members, we’re 100% owned by the fishers who supply us. We handle around 70% of WA’s rock lobster catch, making us the world’s largest rock lobster processor -and a business deeply connected to people, communities and coastline.

We're looking for a hands-on problem solver who enjoys identifying issues, finding practical solutions and taking ownership of the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities and equipment.

About the role

Reporting to the Reliability & Maintenance Manager, you'll play a key role in maintaining and improving the reliability, safety and functionality of our facilities, infrastructure and equipment across our sites.

This is more than a hands-on maintenance role. We're looking for someone who enjoys investigating issues, identifying root causes and taking initiative to implement practical solutions before problems impact operations.

You'll work across facility maintenance, contractor coordination, preventative maintenance and continuous improvement activities, helping ensure our sites operate safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption.

This role would suit a mechanically minded problem-solver who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work and is always looking for opportunities to improve processes, systems and facilities.

Location: Perth Metro, with your time shared across our Fremantle and Welshpool facilities.

Employment Type: Full-time

What you'll be doing

You'll take an active role in maintaining and improving our facilities by:

- Diagnosing maintenance and facility issues and implementing effective solutions

- Conducting routine maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance activities

- Performing facility,

equipment and infrastructure inspections to identify risks and improvement opportunities

- Investigating recurring breakdowns or maintenance concerns and recommending long-term corrective actions

- Coordinating and managing external contractors, including scheduling work, monitoring performance and ensuring compliance with site requirements

- Assisting with maintenance planning and prioritisation of work activities

- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and updating systems such as MEX

- Supporting safety, compliance and audit requirements across the facilities

- Working collaboratively with operational teams to understand challenges and develop practical solutions

Who this role would suit

We're looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on but also likes understanding why problems occur and how they can be prevented in the future.

This role could be a outstanding fit if you:

- Naturally look for ways to improve systems, processes and equipment

- Enjoy troubleshooting and diagnosing issues rather than simply fixing symptoms

- Take ownership of tasks and can work independently

- Build productive relationships with contractors and internal stakeholders

- Take pride in maintaining safe, compliant and efficient facilities

What you'll bring

We're ideally looking for someone with:

- A trade qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent maintenance experience

- Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding capability

- Experience undertaking maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance activities

- Experience identifying root causes and implementing practical solutions to recurring issues

- Ability to coordinate contractors and oversee maintenance works

- Strong organisational and planning skills

- Experience using maintenance management systems such as MEX or similar CMMS platforms

- Sound computer skills and ability to maintain accurate records

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

- A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work with minimal supervision

- Commitment to working safely in an operational plant and warehouse environment

- Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance

Bonus points if you have:

- Experience working with food processing or manufacturing equipment

- Experience with HACCP or food safety systems

- Forklift Licence

- Exposure to reliability, asset management or continuous improvement principles

Why GFC?

This is where we differentiate, and what you should lean into:

- Secure employment with a well-established WA business

- A supportive and collaborative team environment

- A role where you'll see the direct impact of your work every day

- The opportunity to contribute to one of Western Australia's leading seafood businesses

How to apply

If you're a practical and safety-focused individual looking for a varied maintenance role, we'd love to hear from you.

Please submit your CV online via the Apply Now link, as emailed applications cannot be accepted.

If you have any questions about this role, please contact Glenn Lambert on 0438 256 ***.
