Junior Solicitor – Criminal Defence

About the Role

As a Junior Solicitor, you will play an integral role in the preparation and conduct of criminal defence matters. Your work will include:

- Preparing and managing files involving criminal charges, domestic violence matters, and child safety proceedings.

- Appearing in the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts throughout Queensland on a daily basis.

- Working closely with clients, their families, and key stakeholders to understand individual circumstances and deliver personalised, compassionate legal support.

- Maintaining thorough and organised case records to support the firm’s high standard of legal practice.

About You

We are looking for a solicitor who is eager to embrace the challenges and rewards of criminal defence work. You will bring:

- An understanding of criminal law, including relevant legislation, case law, and court processes within Queensland’s Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and confidently.

- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities,



supported by attention to detail and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for clients.

- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively, managing competing deadlines with professionalism and composure.

- A genuine passion for criminal law and a dedication to protecting the rights and interests of clients.

- A valid driver’s licence, as travel to various jurisdictions is required.

- Eligibility to obtain a Queensland Practising Certificate upon commencement.
