Hi Rail Excavator Operator Location: Karratha, WA (Local Residents Only) Roster: 4 Days On, 3 Days Off Employment Type: Opportunity for max term contract
About the role
Operate specialist Hi Rail Excavators across the Rio Tinto Rail Network, supporting rail maintenance and infrastructure projects throughout Karratha and surrounding areas while maintaining the highest safety and operational standards. This position is only available to those willing to relocate or currently residing in Karratha.

Skills & experience

- Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (or equivalent)
- TLIC3045 – Operate Road/Rail Vehicle
- Excavator Ticket (Loader Ticket advantageous)
- Proven experience operating Hitachi and/or Liebherr Hi Rail Excavators
- Minimum HR Driver's Licence (unrestricted preferred)
- White Card
- National and ARTC Road/Rail Plant Operator qualifications highly regarded
- Experience working within rail, mining, shutdown or safety-critical environments
- Solid understanding of rail safety requirements and compliance
- Ability to pass a Rail Category 1 Medical and ongoing Drug & Alcohol testing
- Physically fit and willing to assist with hands-on site activities when required

Duties & responsibilities

- Safely operate Hi Rail Excavators and Road/Rail plant across the Rio Tinto Rail Network




- Conduct daily pre-start inspections, maintenance checks and equipment care
- Support rail maintenance and construction activities across Karratha and surrounding areas.
