TSRA Environmental Management Program are currently seeking dedicated Ranger to join our team on a temporary 12-month contract with a possibility of an extension.
Location in the Torres Strait; Boigu Island
The Ranger will undertake land, sea and cultural heritage management activities on traditional land and sea country under the supervision and guidance of the Senior Ranger.
TSRA Rangers play a vital role in the environmental and cultural stewardship across the Torres Strait.
Rangers combine traditional knowledge and western science to care of land, sea and culture in line with community and traditional owners.
The Rangers activities will be guided by a Working on Country Ranger Plan and Annual Scope of Works which will be developed in consultation with RNTBCs, communities and other relevant stakeholders.
The works will be implemented in accordance with the following Plans of Management applicable to your activities:
- Land and Sea Management Strategy for Torres Strait
- Torres Strait Development Plan (Environmental Management Program)
- Working on Country Ranger Plan
- Indigenous Protected Area Plans of Management
- Dugong and Turtle Management Plans.
Applicant must be a current resident of Boigu Island or demonstrate the independent capacity to relocate and reside on Boigu.
