Senior Privacy Officer Eden Ritchie Recruitment are seeking an experienced Senior Privacy Officer to provide specialist advice and end-to-end case management across complex privacy, compliance, complaint and data breach matters.
Working within a corporate governance environment, this position will provide high-quality, risk-informed privacy advice and support lawful, transparent and defensible decision-making across the organisation.
The successful candidate will bring strong practical experience in privacy compliance and complaints, sound legislative knowledge and the ability to confidently manage sensitive and complex matters involving a diverse range of stakeholders.
Rate: $75.00 per hour + super
Contract Length: Initial 3 month engagement
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, risk-informed advice on privacy matters, interpreting and applying relevant legislation, case law, policies and best practice.
- Coordinate complex privacy matters, including privacy complaints and data breach assessments.
- Support the coordination and management of data breach responses, including assessment, escalation and notification requirements under the Mandatory Data Breach Notification scheme.
- Investigate and support the resolution of privacy incidents and complaints.
- Analyse complex information and prepare briefs, correspondence, reports, submissions and assessments.
- Identify privacy risks and trends and contribute to continuous improvement of organisational privacy processes and controls.
- Provide guidance and education to business areas regarding privacy services, governance and privacy practices.
- Develop and deliver privacy compliance training using contemporary delivery practices.
- Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and communicate complex privacy concepts in transparent, practical language.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to privacy matters.
- Contribute to and, where appropriate, lead privacy and corporate-wide projects.
- Represent the organisation at relevant privacy compliance forums and networking meetings.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally demonstrate:
- Extensive practical experience in privacy compliance and managing privacy complaints.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant privacy legislation and its practical application.
- Experience providing technical and specialist advice on complex privacy matters.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate matters, gather and analyse significant volumes of information and determine appropriate actions and outcomes.
- Solid research, analytical and written communication skills, including the preparation of concise correspondence, reports and advice.
- Ability to communicate complex legislative and privacy concepts in plain language to a range of audiences.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, consultation and negotiation skills, with the ability to operate with tact, diplomacy and sensitivity.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive and complex information.
- Strong judgement and the ability to operate with appropriate autonomy within established policies, legislation and procedures.
- Experience within a large, highly regulated organisation, ideally within local or State Government.
Qualifications & Desirable Experience
Progression towards Diploma-level qualifications, or equivalent extensive practical experience in privacy and privacy compliance functions, is highly desirable.
