Description
The Carer Services Manager leads the recruitment, assessment, authorisation, training, and ongoing support of foster carers within the Permanency Support Program. The role ensures carers are well supported, meet compliance requirements, and provide safe, high-quality care for children and young people. Working within a trauma-informed, child-centred and culturally responsive framework, the Carer Services Manager oversees practice quality, governance, audits,
and compliance to support stable placements and positive long-term outcomes for children and young people.

Skills And Experiences
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Degree level qualifications in social work, psychology, social sciences, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in OOHC or statutory child protection casework.
- Demonstrated experience in carer support and carer assessment
- Demonstrated experience supervising staff and leading casework practice.
- Solid understanding of trauma, attachment, child development, therapeutic care, and permanency planning.
- High‑level written communication skills, including report writing and analysis.
- Ability to manage complex cases, competing deadlines, and high‑risk situations.
Key Knowledge Areas
- Sound knowledge of the Children’s Guardian Act 2019
- Sound knowledge of the Care Regulation 2022
- Sound knowledge of the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998
- Sound knowledge of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations
- Sound knowledge of the NSW OOHC Code of Practice
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding risk assessment and risk management principles.
Additional Requirements
- Current NSW Working with Children Check.
- Current Criminal History Check.
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence and Comprehensively Insured Vehicle
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to participate in an after‑hours on‑call roster as required.
- Willingness to travel long distances as required.
