The key duties of the position include:
What you will do as the Assistant Director, User Experience (UX) Design,
- Lead end-to-end human-centred design activities, including user research, discovery, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing and final design delivery.
- Champion user needs and influence product direction by identifying opportunities, uncovering insights and translating complex problems into simple, intuitive experiences.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to design customer-focused digital solutions that balance user, business and technical needs.
- Drive product design through discovery, iterative delivery and continuous improvement using Human-Centred Design (HCD) principles and evidence-based decision making.
- Develop accessible, sustainable and technically feasible solutions aligned with ACCC design systems, brand standards and WCAG accessibility requirements.
Eligibility
In order to succeed in the role, you will have:
- Experience managing, guiding and mentoring User Experience Designers in a fast-paced and large complex people-centred organisation.
- Experience leading and driving digital transition and helping to embed change, including leading large programs of work.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and assess the risks, benefits and opportunities associated with existing and proposed solutions, challenge assumptions, navigate ambiguity,
and influence the strategic direction of ICT delivery to achieve meaningful improvements and positive outcomes for users.
- Demonstrated experience leading user research, discovery, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing and the delivery of user-centred digital products.
- Ability to build strong relationships, influence decision-making and work effectively with users, product owners, developers and senior stakeholders.
- Experience applying WCAG accessibility standards, usability best practices and design systems to create inclusive, compliant and high-quality user experiences.
- Experience with design tools such as Figma and developing design systems is required.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or at least 5 years’ experience.
